Question Sword vs axe vs hammer

Hi!
Currently I use a sword, but im playing around with the idea of using an axe or a hammer. Can anyone outline the pros and cons of each weapon, and maybe show the good and bad skills for each? And also, could u say which one u would use?

SWORD
There are a lot of skill combinations that can be used effectively in PvE with this weapon, like For Great Justice to build up a huge amount of adrenaline while combining it with Dragon Slash for the ultimate Spamming combo.

Swords also have a smaller damage range, although the damage isn't neccessarily high either. Note that most people like the sword, so the weapons and runes might be a bit more expensive than axe or hammer.
AXE
I don't use axe much, but as far as I know, the skills are meant for some great damage and AoE in clumps of groups. The damage is also greater than sword on the whole, but the damage range is far greater (from 6-28), so most of the damage would count from luck of the draw.

As I have said, I do not play Axe, but my guildies always pwn me with it,
HAMMER
Hammer is the strongest Warrior weapon in terms of raw damage from the weapon itself. It's skills are mostly centered around Knockdowns and Weakness, and when combined with Dwarven Battle Stance {Elite}, you could whip up some nice combo moves.

The Hammer is also the cheapest of the weapons to get acquainted with. Victo's Warhammer (something like that) usually goes for around 500g and is a nice green hammer. Note that hammers are more useful in PvP, but that's my opinion too.

AXE
[skill]Eviscerate[/skill] <3 <3 <3
A lovely unconditional DW
Fast Damage Spikes
SWORD
Something to waste money on.
Swords & their mods are expensive.
They have some lovely skins
Although, the bleeding req. in PvE fails
[skill]"For Great Justice!"[/skill][skill]Dragon Slash[/skill] Can be fun though...
HAMMER
Lovely Damage.
Knock downs.
Personal favorite in hard mode, where things aren't dead by the time you have your adrenaline....The KD's + Weakness help a lot in Hard Mode.
Cheap to make, only the Mursaat Hammer (as far as I know) can drain your funds...

Play all three ^_^. Thats what i do because i cant just pick one. So when your in an outpost just pick whichever weapon floats ur boat at that particular time. And yeah do NOT use dwarven battle stance.

DBS is fine as long as its in the right build and the right situation, but I agree with you about using all 3, great fun.

this has already been posted in so many threads but I'll say it again...
here is a summary of the warrior weapons:
Sword=preassure
Axe=spike
Hammer=spike+knockdown
all 3 weapons inflict conditions, however those differ a bit. all 3 have deep wound, sword and axe have bleeding and cripple while hammers have weakness. however conditions are most easily spammed with a sword.
this summary doesnt mean that you cant spike with a sword nor preassure with an axe, it just says which is the best for which objective. however it all depends on the build you use.

If your ultimate goal is damage. Stick to axes...

In PvE, not everything bleeds or gets knocked down, but for some reason, everything can be deep wounded.

Unconditional deep wound = more damage than any other class in the game...

Dependant on several things..
  • what you want to do[pvp/pve]
  • what campaigns you own
  • what role you want to fulfill

I'de suggest getting a good setup for each, possibly several with different mods and such to optimize each build accordingly. Depending which Campaigns you have also determines which skills you have available for each weapon type so look up the skills for each.

Asking which single weapon type is best for a warrior is like asking whats the best secondary profession. If you want your character to be adept to all situations and aspects of this game you should eventually have several weapon sets,armor sets, and builds including different secondaries.
